APG Regional Workshop Non-Profit Organisations
The APG conducted a regional workshop on “The Exploitation of Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) For Terrorist Finance” on 24 – 25 November 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Fifty participants from 20 APG member jurisdictions attended the workshop, which was hosted by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) at its Lanai Kijang facility. Funding from Australia, Canada, China and New Zealand supported the attendance of some delegates.
The workshop was delivered by experts from AUSTRAC (Australia), the Australian Charities and Non-for profits Commission, BNM, the Charity Commission for England and Wales, PPATK (Indonesia), the Royal United Services Institute (United Kingdom) and the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate. It was designed to assist APG members to effectively implement the legal and institutional frameworks/mechanisms required by the Financial Action Task Force to protect the NPO sector from exploitation by terrorists.
