Shipping Registries and PF Factsheet
To assist members’ preparation for the 4th round of mutual evaluations and to respond to emerging regional risks, the APG Secretariat, with support from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, is pleased to announce the publication of a Shipping Registries and PF Risk Factsheet.
The factsheet includes an overview of the relevant FATF Recommendations and explains why the FATF standards are applicable to shipping registries. However, this non-binding note does not provide an interpretation of the FATF Standards nor override the FATF Standards and its assessment Methodology, any of the FATF training modules or mechanisms for coming to a conclusion on Recommendation 7.
The factsheet and highlighted case studies provide practical examples of proliferation financing risks and approaches to assessment that can inform members’ understanding and response to proliferation financing risks. The factsheet draws on APG typologies reports, UN Panel of Experts’ Reports, APG Secretariat’s regional events on counter-proliferation financing, national risk assessments, and a United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute research report into proliferation financing,
We encourage members to download and circulate the factsheet amongst competent authorities to enhance their understanding of PF risks and consider the adequacy of their counter-proliferation financing measures to combat proliferation financing risks associated with shipping registries.
You can access the factsheet here.
